Vanderhoof is a welcoming and inclusive community. We are known for our friendly residents and we have a reputation for
being a great place to live, raise a family and do business. We pride ourselves
on the “Vanderhoof Advantage,” building on the strengths of our people, their work
ethic and our collaborative spirit.
Our recently completed Economic Development Strategy states that the District and Council will be an organization
that serves the needs of residents and businesses alike. We will promote the community,
facilitating a positive environment for existing businesses and encouraging new business
development. We will continue to advocate for new and improved local infrastructure,
like a new Aquatic Centre, and establish programs and partnerships that contribute
to a sustainable and diversified economy.
Current initiatives include the development of an aviation related industrial park,
supporting the College of New Caledonia and their Aviation Business Diploma Program,
advocating for and partnering in a Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Centre, and developing
a business care program focused on the manufacturing sector.
With growth in mineral exploration and mining in the Stuart Nechako Region, we are
the Centre of it All offering affordable housing, reasonable tax rates, great education,
superior health services, access to government services and a strong retail and service
sector. We are rich in culture, history, natural resources and recreational opportunities
abound.
Located on Highway 16 at the Geographical Centre of the Province, we are an ideal
spot to raise a family, operate a business or, if you are ready, to retire!
